Recruiting in the present digital age: Personnel consultant Hans Ulrich Gruber presents his keynote

Digitalisation and recruiting: a chance or a challenge? – Was the topic of the high reputational event at the digitalisation centre Lagarde 1 in Bamberg.

Compared to several years ago, employees have different expectations in regard to their employers presently and use new ways to inform themselves. While print media is losing its value, personal references, job portals and the own corporate websites are getting more important, reports Gruber by means of the newest evaluations. Even the direct contact through head hunters achieved a substantial role in the times of high specialisations of employees and the present skills shortages in the economy.

Exciting insights from the candidate’s point of view were shared to the entrepreneurs on the basis of the typical decision-making processes of specialists and executives. “Especially really good employees take their time until they actively start looking for a new role, when they consider a change in their career”, explains the personnel consultant Gruber. “This can be justified as those employees are usually busy and are in addition searching for a new position, which perfectly suits them.” For the mentioned decision-making process, seven steps could be identified starting with the idea for change, followed by looking for possible job positions, the application process until the new job is found and started. This process however, can be positively influenced and accelerated by head-hunters as they achieve a direct approach and clear, positive communication about the job offer.

Companies themselves can also contribute by conveying a positive image to the candidates. The personnel consultant outlined several important aspects in his keynote. A crucial meaning can be placed on the practiced corporate identity. To live the positive values and communicating those is more effective than any marketing concept, explains Gruber. Besides the corporate identity, additional major aspects of employer branding were listed, such as regular interviews and the consequent use of online job portals as well as social media channels.

KG).
“It was a successful event with the two most relevant topics for the mid-sized sector”, summarized Gruber. “I highly appreciate the chance of being able to contribute to this event.”
